We're Hiring: Strategic Initiatives Analyst (entry level)

Updated: Jan 6

About the Role

We are looking for a forward-thinking and creative individual that is passionate about financial technology to join our team as a Strategic Initiatives Analyst. In this role, you’ll thrive on solving complex problems and exploring the unknown. You will work with other members of Alloy Labs and independently to conduct research, participate in collaborations with members of our consortium, and produce actionable insights. Leveraging your strategic mindset, you help develop innovative solutions to drive our mission of reinventing financial services forward. You are comfortable starting with a blank sheet of paper and working with a team to develop ideas and drive outcomes.

About Alloy Labs

Alloy Labs is a consortium of 80+ community and mid-size banks working together to better serve the evolving needs of our customers. Viewed as a single entity, we are a top 10 bank which gives us the scale to work with large providers and provide a scaling path for startup partners. We use the knowledge of the network to develop insights that drive partnerships, product development, and strategic investments.

We operate 7 Centers of Excellence:

  1. Automation & AI

  2. Banking as a Service

  3. Cybersecurity

  4. Data & Analytics

  5. Innovation Culture

  6. Marketing

  7. Strategy & Business Model

We’ve created infrastructure initiatives including a payments company, a fraud fighting cooperative, and a digital identity consortium.

Our accelerator program focuses on how startups and banks can partner for mutual benefit rather than company building. Almost all startups sign at least 1 bank partner before the program ends and most see significant acceleration in the first 6 months.

We also have a multi-tenant corporate venture capital fund where we invest in strategic, bank-adjacent spaces where our network can provide significant value as seed-stage companies scale without taking up a large share of the cap table.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Collaboration: Work with the leader of each Center of Excellence to prepare for each month’s meeting including background research, development of key questions and discussion points, and coordination with participants. Own action items resulting from the meeting and publication of the meeting summary.

  • Research &Synthesize: Collect observations from around the alliance and fintech ecosystem to synthesize insights and actionable hypotheses in collaboration with other team members.

  • From 0 to 1: Develop the first draft of key strategic initiatives, fleshing out immature concepts into a version that others can react to.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Use integrative thinking to analyze complex information from multiple sources and develop clear, actionable strategies. Structure problems, form hypotheses, and perform tests to iterate upon.

Qualities We Value:

  • Adaptability & Resilience: You embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. You're not discouraged by the need to pivot or adjust course when necessary - change motivates you to innovate and improve.

  • Curiosity & Ambition: You are passionate about exploring the unknown, always seeking out new trends and opportunities in fintech. Your ambition is to drive real change, constantly pushing boundaries to stay ahead of industry evolution.

  • Strategic & Creative Vision: You think like a creator, able to envision new possibilities and bring abstract ideas to life. Your ability to translate strategy into action sets you apart as both an innovator and a practical thinker.

  • Ownership & Initiative: You are a self-starter, taking full ownership from concept to execution.

Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Economics or related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience in strategy, project ownership, or a related field where you demonstrated critical thinking and independent decision-making.

  • Analytical rigor with a proven ability to think through problems, gather data, perform analysis, and communicate outputs to diverse stakeholders.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of navigating uncharted territory with confidence.

Why Join Us?  If you're excited by the prospect of shaping the future of financial services and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, this role is for you. If you are excited by the opportunity of learning from and with passionate team members and a great community of bankers and fintech founders, this is for you. If you are excited by challenges that will accelerate your own professional development, this is for you.

Compensation: $65,000-85,000
